SOWFI is a science-led, front-line wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organisation.
Our volunteers care for orphaned, sick, injured and displaced wildlife and relieve suffering through effective rescue & rehabilitation, releasing back into the wild whenever possible.
SOWFI offers training and supports research that will benefit our wildlife in South Australia. We advocate on behalf of our wildlife and create awareness amongst South Australians of their beauty and value to ensure they are here for generations to come. Our volunteers fulfil many varied roles, which collectively, and in collaboration with other organisations, contributes to the short and long-term welfare of our native wildlife and the conservation of their habitat in South Australia.
With the ongoing loss of habitat due to tree clearing/pruning, bigger houses on smaller blocks, new housing developments and a preference for tidy gardens, our wildlife find it difficult to have somewhere to sleep at night. This puts them at greater danger of predators and provides no protection from our extreme weather.
You can help by putting up boxes in your backyard. SOWFI recommends looking for boxes made by Faunature in your local garden centre or order online on the link below.
