WILDLIFE
GUARDIANS
SCHOOLS PROGRAM

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
A hands-on education program for primary & lower secondary students and OSHC

Children are often the first to spot distressed wildlife. The emerging bird flu crisis is going to make the visibility of sick natives more prominent.  It is important children understand what they should and should not do.
Wildlife Guardians brings the reality of wildlife rescue into your classroom. Delivered by experienced wildlife rescuers and educators from Save Our Wildlife Foundation Inc (SOWFI), this engaging program helps students understand what happens when native animals are injured, orphaned or displaced — and how people in the community can help.

Through interactive rescue scenarios and age-appropriate activities, students learn about South Australia’s unique wildlife, the challenges they face, and the simple, safe actions children and families can take to protect animals in their local environment.

The program is tailored for ages Reception to Year 8, aligns with the Australian Curriculum, and requires no preparation from teachers. Sessions can be adjusted to your classroom needs.

"Staff and students found it informative and engaging, with practical strategies that they can readily implement. The presenters were knowledgeable and responsive, making the session both valuable and relevant to our local environment." Palmer Primary School

"Students were highly interested and engaged, and the session had a strong balance of explicit teaching and interaction." Highbury Primary School

"The students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the content delivered. It was wonderful to see students actively engaging through hands-on learning, including how to keep an animal calm, handle it safely, and understand who to contact for help. The role play involving a parent and child finding an injured animal was both engaging and entertaining." Modbury West Primary School
