Wildlife Guardianship brings the real world of wildlife rescue into your classroom. Delivered by experienced wildlife rescuers and educators from Save Our Wildlife Foundation Inc (SOWFI), this engaging program helps students understand what happens when native animals are injured, orphaned or displaced — and how people in the community can help.
Through interactive storytelling, real-life rescue scenarios and age-appropriate activities, students learn about South Australia’s unique wildlife, the challenges they face, and the simple, safe actions children and families can take to protect animals in their local environment. The program is designed specifically for Reception to Year 6, aligns with the Australian Curriculum, and requires minimal preparation from teachers. Sessions can be delivered as a single class incursion or scaled for multiple classes or whole-school participation.
All proceeds from the program directly support SOWFI’s wildlife rescue and rehabilitation work across South Australia — meaning your students’ learning helps real animals in need.
Sessions run for approximately 60 minutes (but we are flexible),with a special 35-minute program just for Reception age or kindergarten children.
