SPONSOR
A NATIVE

Give a Wild Heart a Second Chance through Sponsorship
When you choose to sponsor an animal, you’re not just donating – you’re becoming part of their story. Your gift means a tiny joey will grow strong enough to hop into the wild, a dazed magpie will sing again, or an orphaned possum will one day find a new family in the treetops.

For as little as $40, you can help provide food, warmth, and expert care to South Australia’s injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife – giving them the chance to heal and return to the wild where they belong.

As a special thank you, the Licenced Wildlife Carer looking after your sponsored animal will keep you connected through heartfelt updates, photos, and messages along their journey to recovery.

Your sponsorship also creates a ripple of kindness – helping us build better rescue facilities, share educational resources, and inspire more people to stand up for our native animals.

Because every life saved is a story worth telling – and it starts with you.

As South Australia’s most active wildlife rescue organisation, SOWFI is 100% volunteer-run and relies on donations to continue this vital work. Every sponsorship makes a difference – for the animals in our care, and for the future of our environment.

Simply:
  1. Choose the animal you’d like to sponsor.
  2. Click on the Sponsor Me button, add the sponsorship amount and in payment section under NOTES - add the name of the animal you are sponsoring. Don't forget to include your contact details.
  3. The SOWFI wildlife carer will be in touch soon with a photo and update.

You can also choose to become a monthly sponsor to continue to support the hundreds of animals and birds we have in care throughout the year.

KATIE & SAGE - TWO RAINBOW LORIKEETS $30 EACH = $60

These baby rainbow lorikeets were rescued in North Haven. A mother walking the dog with her daughters when one of the girls came running up with one of the birds in her hands. They turned around and there was an arborist holding the other baby bird. He had cut down a palm tree and these two were displaced. They are only a couple of weeks old, weighing 70g each.
They are being syringe fed 4-5 times per day and growing well, increasing in colour daily. They will grow up and be released together - a process that will take about 3 months.

   HUGO - RINGTAIL POSSUM $130
This little ring tail came to us with a lot of his fur
missing and scratches.  There is no infection, thankfully.
But he definitely needs lots of tlc.
He weighs 155gms and will be with us for a while until
he is strong enough and mature enough to be released
    into the wild.

PLEASE SPONSOR ME
HUSH - BRUSHTAIL POSSUM - $160
This sweet young girl was brought to me at the end of October.
With a safe warm space to repair and grow and some good old-fashioned TLC, she will be good as gold and returned to the wild.

8 WOOD DUCKLINGS - $22 EACH = $176
6 Wood Ducklings were recently rescued by a Mt Barker Council team member
after their mother was struck by a vehicle.
Our carer has
added another 2 that were found alone recently so we have 8 of these beautiful ducklings in total.
With healthy food, warmth and care, we hope to restore these birds to their habitat in around 2 months.

MARY, PENNY & SUZIE - $130 ea or $158 trio
These three sisters were found on the front lawn of a house in Kuitpo, cold and still, without mum. Nobody knows why. Sally, the quick-thinking human who found them warmed them up and warmed them and called SOWFI for help.

They will go back to this property in a nesting box when they are old enough to be independent.
Into care: 30 Sep 2025

SQUIRTLE - $40
I was found on the ground on a bike path, cold and frightened. I'm a Red Wattlebird Nestling. I can't fly yet so I'm vulnerable on the ground.
The kind human tried to find my nest but couldn't find it. He named me Squirtle. Now I'm with a SOWFI carer. My carer will help me
learn to fly, how to find nectar in native blossoms and catch insects. When I am fit and healthy I will be released back into the the same area I was found because wattlebirds are very territorial.

PIPPIN - REHABILITATED & RELEASED
Pippin was delivered to a SOWFI carer by a young neighbour.  Still a fledgling, the feathers are not all completely unsheathed and so this pretty Crested Pigeon is still not able to fly.  A really vulnerable time for a bird.  Sadly this one has been caught by a dog and has some minor puncture wounds and loss of feathers.
A couple of weeks in an aviary and she’ll be ready to go home.

TERRY - REHABILITATED & RELEASED
I was found alone and in poor condition at a primary school OHSC.  My carer think my mum and I were living on left-over lunches as my fur is in poor condition -  likely a result of a poor diet. They cannot find my mum.
I have been named Terry and I have been
buddied up with Jane, another little Brushtail found when a palm tree was cut down in Glenelg.
